About your teamWhat do Dr. Johnson’s and Dr. Crespo's credentials indicate?ND stands for naturopathic doctor (a.k.a. NMD or naturopathic medical doctor) and indicates that she earned a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from a CNME-accredited naturopathic medical school. This credential is protected from misuse in states where NDs are licensed. However, in states that do not license naturopathic doctors, such as Florida, the use of this credential is not protected. This means that you must check for yourself if someone claiming to be an ND actually graduated from a CNME-accredited naturopathic medical school, passed their licensing exams, and is licensed in good standing with a state that licenses NDs. https://naturopathic.org/page/Education MSCI-TS stands for Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and Translational Science at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. This National Institutes of Health-funded graduate program trains “outstanding healthcare professionals in the core competencies necessary for the safe conduct of clinical and translational research.” This means that, in addition to her experience in neonatal medical research, Dr. Johnson has graduate-level training in how to conduct clinical research and how to critically evaluate and interpret clinical research and apply it to an individual’s health plan. https://iims.uthscsa.edu/ed_msci_overview.html LCSW and LMSW indicate that Dr. Crespo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Master Social Worker in Illinois and Michigan, respectively. Are Dr. Johnson and Dr. Crespo licensed to practice medicine in Florida? The state of Florida does not currently issue licenses to NDs and so Marney Johnson, ND, and colleagues are not licensed in Florida. Dr. Johnson is trained and licensed as a Naturopathic Physician in the state of Oregon. Utilizing her extensive education and experience in medical research and natural medicine, she works as a natural health consultant to Florida-based clients, providing personalized health education. She does not replace the role of the primary care physician or specialist, rather her goal is to help Florida-based clients understand how they can incorporate natural medicines and lifestyle changes into their own wellness plans to restore optimal health. Are Dr. Johnson and Dr. Crespo licensed to practice medicine in Oregon?Yes, Dr. Marney Johnson and Dr. Shelby Crespo are Licensed Naturopathic Physicians in the state of Oregon. They currently accept Oregon-based telemedicine patients for adjunctive naturopathic medical care. Because of the remote nature, we require Oregon-based patients to maintain a professional relationship with a local primary care provider for physical exams, acute visits, etc. What conditions does Dr. Johnson work with?Marney Johnson, ND, has extensive education, training, and experience in naturopathic medicine, integrative primary care, clinical investigation, and translational research. Clinical experience includes general practice, women’s health, natural endocrinology, gastrointestinal health, and more. She is passionate about botanical medicine, nature cure & vitalism, food as medicine, neurodiversity, weight-inclusive healthcare, and natural fertility. Additional training and experience includes IV therapy, craniosacral therapy, and pelvic floor therapy, though these services are unavailable to Florida residents under current legislation. Will I see other consultants at Natural Path to Wellness? While the majority of your time will be spent with Dr. Johnson, ND, or Dr. Crespo, ND, we want to make sure you get the best possible help with every aspect of your wellness journey. To achieve this, we sometimes utilize the services of multidisciplinary professionals or other ND natural health consultants with their own specialized areas of expertise. Examples of our consultant services include advanced homeopathy, "food as medicine" approach to nutrition, and behavioral health coaching. This is decided on a case-by-case basis and is ALWAYS your choice. How do I know I'm seeing a "real" ND?We understand and share your concern. In states where naturopathic doctors are not licensed, anyone can call themselves one. This means that people can call themselves naturopaths or naturopathic doctors in Florida and other unlicensed states even if they self-studied or completed an online program but never attended and graduated from a federally-accredited naturopathic medical school, learned physical examination skills, saw and treated patients in clinic, or passed the rigorous licensing exams that licensed NDs do. This typically is not a concern in states where naturopathic doctors are licensed, because then it is illegal for people to misrepresent themselves in this way. To ensure that you find an ND that was trained as a physician, check out the About Naturopathic Medicine tab to learn about the federally-accredited naturopathic medical schools. Also, you can check the naturopathic medical board website in the state in which they are licensed to be sure that they hold a current license and are in good-standing. |
Becoming a clientWhat does a new-client appointment look like?A new-client appointment is a two-part virtual visit. Your current health is the culmination of genetics, lifestyle factors, stressors/traumas, and past medical conditions and treatments that you have experienced. Your journey has been uniquely complex thus far, and we will help you demystify your natural path to wellness. At the first visit, you will discuss your health history and goals. Because all of your health challenges are interrelated, you will likely be asked questions that you have never before been asked by a doctor. You will discuss in detail topics such as hormonal and digestive health, sleep, mood, interpersonal relationships, spiritual health, hobbies, stressors, allergies, etc. All of these things impact your health and wellbeing. After this appointment, your case will be reviewed, and scientific literature and specialized texts (on topics such as naturopathy, homeopathy, botanical medicine, nutraceuticals, etc.) will be evaluated in order to help develop a natural wellness plan specific to you. About one to two weeks after your initial appointment, you will return for discussion and education about the literature. At this time, we will also work together to determine a timeline for future visits and reevaluation of goals. You will receive a copy of your individualized natural wellness plan so that you can share it with your primary care physician or licensed healthcare provider. Why are appointments offered in packages rather than individually? You are a unique person with your own complex history and set of health challenges. Your body’s healing journey will depend on a number of factors including the duration and complexity of symptoms, vitality, challenges and stressors, and the changes you are able to enact. Because of this, your personalized plan will include follow-up consults to check-in and revise your wellness plan based on your progress and setbacks. The frequency of these sessions varies by person. Package pricing helps to ensure that you have the opportunity for continued collaborative care and tends to increase client self-efficacy. I am not from Oregon or Florida. Can I still become a client?Great question! Send an email to [email protected] and let us know in what state you reside. We will be able to let you know if we can legally work with you and, if not, recommend providers in your area who might be a great fit for your needs. Remember that email is not confidential, so please only give a brief, non-specific overview of any health conditions you would like us to know about when helping you select a licensed or licensable ND in your area. Do you work with people undergoing cancer treatment? We are happy to help you learn how to strengthen your body and renew your health during and following cancer therapies. However, we do not "treat" cancer and are not trained naturopathic oncologists (FABNO). For more information about naturopathic and integrative cancer care, check out OncANP at https://oncanp.org. |
Billing |
|
Do you bill insurance? No; unfortunately, since Florida does not currently license naturopathic physicians, we are unable to bill insurance for your appointments, nor may we provide a superbill for reimbursement. More information on ongoing licensing efforts is available at https://naturopathic.org and https://www.fnpa.org. |
What is your refund policy? We do not offer full or partial refunds on any of our services or virtual products. This is a standard in the industry as the information you will have access to represents the intellectual property, labor, and expertise of your consultant. We understand that self-pay services are not typical within the conventional medical system and that this represents a significant financial investment in your health. There are no guarantees and it will take hard work and commitment to create change, but you are so worth it! If you purchased a package as a gift and the recipient does not wish to use them, contact us within 6 months of purchase and we will be happy to apply the appointment credits to your own account, to another of your choosing, or you may donate them to our in-house program to create opportunities for health consulting to under-resourced communities. |
May I use my FSA/HSA funds to pay for services? We encourage you to check with your company before attempting to use FSA/HSA funds. Some allow for "health coaching" services and others do not. Using these funds for ineligible purchases can result in you having to refund the cost out-of-pocket to your FSA/HSA, pay income taxes on the amount you withdrew, and pay penalties to the government. |
Are there any other fees not included in package pricing?Fees may be charged for late cancellations and missed appointments. This information is detailed in the financial policy in the new client documents. Additionally, supplements, tangible products, online and in-person classes, and additional services outside those outlined in the package description are not included in the package price. Package pricing may change over time due to a myriad of factors. There is never a better time to start than now! |
We currently accept online payment with credit and debit cards.
